About the CLPN Steering Committee

  • The Steering Committee is CLPN’s volunteer leadership group. Similar to a nonprofit Board, Steering Committee members develop and execute CLPN’s overall strategic plan, growth, policies, and programs. Ideal Members are also interested in taking initiative with/responsibility for creating or maintaining at least 1 CLPN program or resource. Members should be available to volunteer for 4-6 hours per month.

  • Ideal applicants for the CLPN Steering Committee will have the following traits:

    • be a member of the Chicago Latina/e/x community

    • 18+ years old

    • ability to commit 4 to 6 hours per month to Steering Committee work

    • ability to meet both virtually and in person in Chicago (frequency and days/time to be chosen by the Steering Committee together)

    • willingness to engage with CLPN’s Rooted Reading List

    • general values that align with CLPN’s community-focused mission/work such as anti-racism, anti-capitalism, anti-misogyny, solidarity, restorative justice, autonomy, equity, pro-Palestine, pro workers’ rights, pro immigrant rights, and allyship with the queer community

    • bilingual language skills are a plus

    • experience with nonprofit or mutual aid work is a plus

    • experience in relevant work (marketing, outreach, research, graphic design, program development, education, or logistics) is a major plus

  • CLPN’s Steering Committee will be made of 6 to 12 volunteer members. Members will be added on a rolling basis and will serve a 1 year (renewable) term. Additional policies and expectations will be developed by the first full (at least 6 members) Steering Committee as a group.
